PROMISED LAND

I’m standing down, I’ve lost my faith,
I’ve thought this over and over again but still feel the same,
I hit the ground, can’t find my way,
I piled harder demands on myself just to feel more pain.
I weigh my heart’s desire,
‘gainst all the wasted time,
My dis-illusion is now tearing me down.
I’m never gonna see the promised land,
Seems I’ve built castles in the sand,
(The dream is over now, burn it to the ground)
I’m never gonna find that guiding light,
Heavy heart feels no peace inside,
(Building hopes so high, throw them to the fire)
I’ve come so far my throat is dry,
I dragged my bones through the dust just to quench this thirst inside,
I screamed so hard up to the sky,
Held my arms out to God in despair but heard no reply.
I’ve always been defined,
By solid faith so blind,
My dis-illusion has now broken me down.
